Protect Your Mental Health
A lack of support from your partner is likely to bring up feelings of stress and anxiety, but it’s important to put your emotional well-being first during this time. Remember, the pregnancy decision belongs to you, and you deserve to feel safe and supported.
Take time to process your own feelings about your pregnancy and what you need moving forward. Your partner may also need time to process how they feel. Sometimes, people’s initial reactions are not always their true feelings and are often driven by shock and fear of the unknown.
If you are worried about your safety around your partner, do not hesitate to reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Your safety comes first.
Confirm Your Pregnancy
Confirming your key pregnancy details with a test and ultrasound is important. An ultrasound will show the location of the pregnancy, how far along you are, and whether there is a heartbeat (viability).
Hope Women’s Center offers no-cost pregnancy testing and limited ultrasounds with options counseling afterward to help you understand your pregnancy and the next steps.
Seek The Support You Deserve
There are still people and resources available to support you if your partner’s response isn’t what you expected. This support could be from a trusted friend, family member, or the caring staff at Hope Women’s Center, where we provide you with confidential, non-judgmental support.
Having someone to talk to can make all the difference in how you feel. It also allows you to see a different perspective on your situation through a lens of hope and support.
